About Scaling Better: Stories & Tools for Growth

Thank you for taking a few minutes to visit. I don’t take that lightly — I know there are a million places you could be right now, so the fact that you’re here means something.

My name is Laura. I’m not someone who had a safety net or a magic playbook. I’m a self-made technologist who had to claw my way out of living paycheck to paycheck — digging for change in my car to put gas in the tank after a cash-only Craigslist job, only to be handed a check I couldn’t cash because my account was overdrawn and the bank was closed.

Back then, I did whatever it took — tearing off roofs, laying sod in the dead heat of summer, working side gigs with strangers just to scrape by. I hated it, but even in those moments — sweaty, alone, sore and broke — I told myself: “This isn’t forever. I’m meant for more. I just need to figure out how to use what I know to make real money.”

When I finally hit my breaking point — facing eviction, owing my aunt money, watching friends go on vacations while I couldn’t even breathe between bills — I made a promise to myself: Do it different & Do Better. I started tracking what I had, cut expenses, paid myself first, and took control of my money one bill at a time. That first leftover paycheck — money I could actually save or roll into next month — changed everything for me.

But it wasn’t just grit that got me here. It was my deep love for technology. I’ve always been that curious person who tinkers, learns, and finds ways to make tech work for me — not the other way around. That same curiosity helped me rebuild. It helped me find better ways to earn, automate, and stay afloat.

Over the years, I’ve worked with everyone — individuals, solo entrepreneurs, small businesses, Fortune 5 giants. I’ve seen what works, what doesn’t, what burns people out, and what keeps them moving when life gets messy. Now, I want to share that with you — my passion for tech, my lessons learned the hard way, and the practical tools that can help you build something sustainable too.

When a blood clotting disorder almost cost me my leg — the direct result of 60-hour weeks, unmanaged stress, and grief I never processed — I promised myself I’d never run myself into the ground again. I’d make the work, the money, and the tools serve me — and I’d help others do the same.

For me, “scaling better” means living so that future me can thank past me. It’s about building a life where I don’t have to work just to live — but I get to live and do work that actually makes me happy.

Everything you find here — the stories, the resources, the downloads — comes from that place. The good, the ugly, and the raw moments that got me here. Take what fits, use it to do better for yourself, and keep scaling on your terms — with tech that works for you, not against you.

If you’re ready to do something today, here’s where to start:
