Apps Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 12, 2026
Last Updated: May 14, 2026

Scaling Better LLC (“we,” “our,” “us”) builds apps that help people find, track, and share things that matter to them. This Privacy Policy explains what information our apps collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to every app published by Scaling Better LLC — Android, iOS, and web — including any future apps we release. App-specific details are called out in their own section below.

This is separate from our Store Privacy Policy, which covers shopping on scalingbetter.com.

Who We Are

Scaling Better LLC is a Wisconsin limited liability company. You can reach us anytime through our contact page or at support@scalingbetter.com.

The Short Version

  • We only collect what an app actually needs to work.
  • We don’t sell your personal information. Ever.
  • Sign-in (when an app uses it) is handled by Google or Apple — we never see your password.
  • We use trusted services like Google Firebase and Google Maps to run our apps.
  • You can request that your account and your data be deleted at any time through our contact page.

Information We Collect

1. Account Information

When an app uses sign-in, we receive your name, email address, profile photo URL, and a unique user ID from Google or Apple. We never see or store your password.

2. Content You Create

If an app lets you submit content — like rating a place, marking somewhere as visited, or submitting a new entry — we store what you submit, the time you submitted it, and your user ID, so the app can show your activity back to you and (where relevant) contribute to community features.

3. Device and Usage Information

When you use one of our apps, your device automatically sends us basic technical information: device type, operating system version, app version, language, and approximate timestamps of activity. This helps us keep the app working and fix bugs.

4. Location Information

Some of our apps use map features. If an app requests location access, you’ll see a permission prompt from your device — you can say yes or no. We only use location to help the app function (for example, showing you what’s nearby on a map). We do not track your location in the background and we do not sell location data.

5. Crash and Diagnostic Data

If an app crashes, we may receive diagnostic information from your device (stack traces, OS version, device model) through Google Play Console or Apple App Store Connect. This helps us fix problems faster.

6. What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your contacts, photos, microphone audio, or files outside of what an app explicitly asks for.
  • We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to advertisers.
  • We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, please reach out via our contact page or email support@scalingbetter.com and we will delete it.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

  • Operate the app and provide the features you’re using
  • Keep you signed in across devices
  • Show you your own activity (votes, visits, submissions)
  • Build community features like aggregated counts and shared lists
  • Diagnose crashes and improve performance
  • Communicate with you if you contact us for support

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, profiling, or any kind of automated decision-making that has a legal effect on you.

Who We Share Information With

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run our apps:

Provider What It Handles Privacy Policy
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage) Sign-in and the database that stores app content firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google Maps Platform (Maps SDK, Places API) Maps and address search policies.google.com/privacy
Google Play / Apple App Store App distribution, crash reports, store listings Their respective privacy policies
Email and support tools Responding when you contact us Listed on request

We may also disclose information if we’re required to by law (subpoena, court order, valid legal request), or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Scaling Better, our users, or the public.

Where Your Data Lives

Our apps store data in Google Firebase, hosted in the United States. If you use one of our apps from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from your country’s.

How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Account information: Kept while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
  • Content you’ve submitted to community features (like aggregated vote counts): May be kept in anonymized form after account deletion so we don’t break community features for other users. Your name and personal identifiers are removed.
  • Crash and diagnostic logs: Up to 90 days, then automatically deleted.
  • Support emails: Up to 2 years.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct information that’s wrong
  • Delete your account and personal information
  • Object to or restrict how we use your information
  • Port your information to another service
  • Opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” (we don’t do either — but the right still applies)

To exercise any of these rights, reach out through our contact page or email support@scalingbetter.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We’ll respond within 30 days. We’ll never charge you for making a request, and we won’t treat you differently if you do.

Account Deletion

If you want your account and associated data deleted from one of our apps, you can request it in any of the following ways:

  1. Through our contact page (recommended): Submit a request at scalingbetter.com/pages/contact. Use the subject line “App Account Deletion” and let us know which app the request is for.
  2. Inside an app: Look for the “Delete Account” option in the profile or settings screen (rolling out across our apps).
  3. By email: Send a request to support@scalingbetter.com from the email address tied to your account.

We’ll confirm the request and complete deletion within 30 days. Anonymized contributions to community features (like aggregated vote counts) may be retained as described under “How Long We Keep Your Data.”

California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you’re a California resident, you have the rights listed above plus the right to know the categories of personal information we’ve collected about you in the past 12 months. The categories: identifiers (name, email, user ID), internet activity (app usage), geolocation (only when you grant permission), and inferences drawn from the above (none, in our case — we don’t profile users). We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you’re in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, our legal basis for processing your information is:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the app features you’ve asked for
  • Legitimate interests — to keep our apps secure, debug crashes, and improve our services
  • Consent — for optional features like location, where you explicitly grant permission
  • Legal obligation — when the law requires it

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

Our apps are not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you’re a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us information, reach out through our contact page or email support@scalingbetter.com and we’ll delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS / TLS) for all network communication
  • Encryption at rest in Firebase
  • Role-based access controls — only authorized personnel at Scaling Better LLC have administrative access
  • Firestore Security Rules that enforce per-user data isolation (your votes and visits are visible only to you and contribute only in aggregate to community features)

No system is 100% secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last Updated” date at the top. If the changes are significant, we’ll post a notice in the app or email you directly. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.

App-Specific Disclosures

Each app published by Scaling Better LLC has its own section below describing exactly what it collects and why. As new apps launch, we’ll add new subsections — the general policy above always applies.

🍽️ Supper Clubs

Platforms: Android (iOS planned)
What it does: Helps you find Wisconsin-style supper clubs and vote on which ones still bring out the relish tray. Crowdsourced and community-driven.

What Supper Clubs collects

  • Google account info when you sign in: name, email address, profile photo URL, Google user ID.
  • Your votes on whether a supper club has a relish tray (YES / NO / UNKNOWN). Each vote is tied to your user ID so you can only vote once per club, and so you can change your vote.
  • Clubs you’ve marked as visited. Stored under your user ID. Visible only to you.
  • Clubs you’ve submitted. Stored under your user ID. The club listing itself is visible to all users; your identity as the submitter is not displayed publicly in the app.
  • Approximate location — only if you grant location permission. Used to show you what’s nearby on the map. Never tracked in the background.

What Supper Clubs does NOT collect

  • No contacts, photos, microphone, or files.
  • No advertising IDs.
  • No location tracking when the app is closed.

Services Supper Clubs uses

  • Google Sign-In (via Android Credential Manager) for authentication
  • Google Firebase Authentication to manage user sessions
  • Google Firebase Firestore to store supper club data, votes, visits, and submissions (hosted in us-central1)
  • Google Maps SDK for Android to display the map
  • Google Places API to help you autocomplete addresses when submitting a new club
  • Google Play Console for crash reporting and app distribution

Permissions Supper Clubs requests

  • Internet access — required for the app to function
  • Location (optional) — to center the map on your area and show nearby clubs. You can deny this and the app still works.

🌱 Tend Better

Platform: Android (iOS coming soon)
First released: [date TBD at launch]

Tend Better is a calm, forgiving habit tracker. It's built around a simple idea: your habits are yours, and the app should disappear into your day instead of becoming another thing on your list.

What stays on your device

By default, Tend Better works fully offline. Your habits, your logs, your notes, your intentions, and your settings all live on your phone. We don't see them. They don't leave your device.

If you never sign in, no personal information from Tend Better reaches our servers.

What happens if you sign in

Signing in is optional. The only reason to sign in is to back up your habits and logs so you can move to a new phone (or, when iOS launches, to keep them in sync across both apps).

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo — handled by Google, so we never see your password. A copy of your habits and logs is then stored securely in our backup system, accessible only to you.

You can sign out at any time from Settings → Backup & Sync. Signing out stops new backups immediately, and your local data on your phone is untouched.

What Tend Better does not collect

Even when you're signed in:

  • No location data. Tend Better has no map features and never asks for your location.
  • No advertising identifiers. We don't run ads in the app, and we don't share data with advertisers.
  • No third-party analytics. We don't use Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, or any social media SDKs to track how you use the app.
  • No social features. There are no friends, no feeds, no shared streaks. Your habits aren't visible to anyone else.

Notifications

Tend Better can send you one optional daily reminder, if you turn it on in Settings. These are local notifications scheduled by your phone — they don't go through our servers, and we don't know whether you opened them.

Deleting your data

You can delete your Tend Better data in two ways:

  1. Inside the app: Settings → Danger Zone → "Delete all my data" removes everything from your phone and signs you out of backup.
  2. Through our contact page: Follow the Account Deletion process in the umbrella policy above, with the subject line "Tend Better Account Deletion." This is also the way to request immediate deletion of any backed-up data.
