Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a habit?
Tap the + button on the Today screen. Browse suggestions or type your own name, pick a frequency, and save.
How do I edit or rename a habit?
Tap the habit on Today to open its Detail screen, then tap the kebab menu → Edit.
Can I log a habit for a past day?
Yes. On Today, swipe the date strip at the top to a past day, then tap habits as usual. A "Back to today" button appears in the top bar to return.
What does long-pressing a habit do?
Opens the state sheet — mark a habit as Skipped, Missed, Rest day, or Vacation. You can also clear an existing entry from there.
How do I turn on the daily reminder?
Settings → Daily Reminder, flip the switch, then tap the time row to pick when. One calm nudge per day. On Android 13+ and iOS, you'll be asked to allow notifications the first time.
What's the Intention block?
Optional "Why this matters" and "When or where I do it" fields on Habit Detail. Anchors for when motivation dips. Tap the block to edit.
What does "1 of 2 this week" mean?
Each habit's progress is shown in its own frequency. Weekly habits show this-week progress, monthly habits show this-month, daily habits show the last 7 days.
Why does my new habit show a low %?
The 30-day consistency is literal — it measures the last 30 days. New habits start low and grow naturally as you complete them.
Archive vs Delete?
Archive hides the habit but keeps its logs — you can restore it from the Archived Habits section in Settings. Delete permanently removes the habit and all its logs.
Why aren't there streaks?
Tend Better is calm and forgiving. Streaks reward perfection. The 30-day % rewards what you actually do.
How does cloud backup work?
Sign in with Google to mirror your data to Firebase. Your data stays on this phone unless you sign in. Sign out and writes stop immediately.
